Cape Cod Greenhouses

The Cape Cod’s high-pitched greenhouse roof design is perfect for hanging baskets and taller plants. This greenhouse features a heavy-duty aluminum frame which is available in white, green, or brown baked enamel finish; custom colors are also available. The greenhouse covering is available in straight single and straight double glass, low-e double glass, or strong, durable, and virtually unbreakable twinwall and fivewall polycarbonate. See our additional information below on how to choose the best covering for your backyard greenhouse.

The Cape Cod greenhouse can be a freestanding structure or can be customized as a gable attached or lean-to greenhouse that can become an extension of your home. To suit your home, this residential greenhouse design can be customized to fit under the existing eaves and appear to be part of the original design.

The Gable-Attached Cape Cod Greenhouse

Gable attached greenhouses attach to your home or existing structure on their gable side. Utilizing the multiple size, color, and glazing options available, you can build a greenhouse to complement any home or landscape. We can place doors in the sidewalls or the gable end and increase sidewall height to maximize available floor space.

The Lean-to Cape Cod Greenhouse

Lean-to greenhouses use the wall of an existing structure to create the fourth wall of the greenhouse, resulting in only having one greenhouse slope. Lean-to greenhouses are especially beneficial in colder climates due to being able to access your greenhouse without stepping outside.

Glazing Systems

We offer five different greenhouse glazing systems: single pane glass, double tempered insulated glass, low-e double glass, twin-wall polycarbonate, and five-wall polycarbonate. Our glazing options allow you to attain the best balance between insulating value, aesthetics, and economy to suit your needs. We can also glaze the roof in one material and the sidewalls in a different one to completely control the light and heat in your greenhouse.

  • Single layer Glass:

Our single glass is a tempered safety glass to minimize any possibility of breakage or injury. The traditional look is appealing to greenhouse gardeners and offers full light transmission to control growing variables. Single pane glass is adequate for keeping a `cool greenhouse` in mild climates.

    R value = 0.9, approximately 95% light transmission.

  • Double Layer Insulated Glass:

Our double-glazed glass is a tempered safety glass to minimize any possibility of breakage or injury. Insulated double glass is the best of both worlds, providing you with the aesthetically pleasing look of a glass greenhouse and the insulation you may require for your specialty plants or for hotter, sunnier climates.

    R Value = 2.04, approximately 90% light transmission

  • Low E glass:

Our double-glazed glass can also be upgraded to a high-performance Low E glass to help keep your greenhouse even cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter while still maintaining the light necessary for plant growth. Best for the hottest climates, the panes are coated with a microscopically thin coating for low solar emissivity.

    Low E glass R Value = 3.3, approximately 70% light transmission

  • Twin-wall Polycarbonate:

Our 6mm twin-wall polycarbonate is the most economical glazing material available. Very practical for a `growing greenhouse`, it offers 50% more insulation than single pane glass and diffuses sunlight which may become too strong in the summer. It is essentially unbreakable, making it very safe in a family environment. The insulation will prevent the temperature in the greenhouse from changing drastically and results in the best possible growing environment for your backyard garden.

    R value = 1.59, approximately 82% light transmission.

  • Five-wall Polycarbonate:

Our new 16mm five-wall polycarbonate offers unbeatable insulation, at 50% more insulating strength than double pane glass, and 80% more efficient than 6mm or 8mm twin-wall polycarbonate. Five-wall greenhouse covering is ideal for colder climates, for gardeners who grow specialty plants, or for those who prefer the most energy-efficient greenhouse to reduce heating costs.

    R value = 3.03, approximately 62% light transmission

All glazing options can be intermixed in the same greenhouse to create greater insulating values and better light transmission in any way that you prefer.

Capping

Our continuous, exterior capping system secures the glazing and maintains an airtight seal – there are no gaps or clips. This greenhouse is designed to be weather resistant and energy-efficient.

Framing

Heavy duty aluminum frame

Our standard greenhouse aluminum frame is ideal for hobby residential and commercial greenhouses that require a permanent structure that complements an existing landscape. The standard greenhouse frame can withstand 85 mph winds and 30 pounds per square foot for snow loads. Mix and match glazing to suit your growing needs.
