Horizontal Circulation Fans

One of the most important accessories for a greenhouse, circulation fans are often used to move air throughout naturally ventilated structures where venting is minimal. Circulation fans provide horizontal airflow (HAF) which is best for greenhouse circulation. These fans push the air in your greenhouse continuously causing mass air movement. Aside from improving ventilation, circulation fans have multiple benefits. They help promote healthy plant growth by preventing stagnant air, which can cause fungus and disease to develop. Because they keep the air moving, there are no “hot” or “cold” spots; the temperature is uniform and consistent. In addition to being critical for your plants to grow, fresh, moving air simulates outdoor winds to make plant cell walls stronger resulting in more vigorous plants that produce more fruit. Moving air facilitates pollination as well. Circulation fans eliminate air stratification, equalize greenhouse temperatures, reduce moisture condensation, improve carbon dioxide utilization and carry low operating costs.

The cubic footage of your greenhouse will determine the size of the fans needed to cool and ventilate your greenhouse properly. To determine this, multiply the length, width, and height of your greenhouse. This is the optimal exhaust fan CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) rating for your greenhouse. A fan this size will exchange the air in your greenhouse at least once per minute which is recommended for the healthiest growing conditions for your plants. You may also choose between stationary wall-mounted fans, oscillating wall-mounted fans, and clip-on fans depending on your cooling needs. Optional misting systems are also available if you require additional cooling.
